Joseph Hubbard Saunders (1800-1839) of Chowan County, NC, graduated from the University in 1821 and was a tutor from 1821 to 1825, receiving the MA in 1824. He became a minister in the Protestant Episcopal church and rector of Christ Church in Pensacola, FL.
